MISCELLANEOUS

Library Quote of the Week

CST CURTI’S TIP OF THE WEEK

Do you want to be that next person lying on a stretcher?

No!!! well OK. Then why stand in the middle of the road or cross the road when cars are coming at you? There must be an alternative. Luckily there is!!

  1. Stay on the sidewalk where it’s safer.
  2. If you are not at a controlled intersection, then don’t cross the road when vehicles are coming your way.

In section 223 (3) of the Traffic Safety Act it says, “No pedestrian shall leave a curb or other place of safety and proceed into the path of a vehicle on a highway that is so close that it is impracticable for the driver to yield the right of way” Which is a $70 fine.

The research I’ve done has different fines for different cities.

Section 214(1) of the Traffic Safety Act say’s - No person shall: whether or not with the use or aid of any vehicle or other thing, perform or engage in any stunt or activity on a highway that is likely to distract, startle or interfere with other users of the highway. (Also known as stunting). $150.       If you know you know!!         Cst Tony Curti
